APP #3: Students as scribe

Padlet

Have you tried Padlet.com?
Padlet can be used to scribe your topic by teachers and by students. Padlet gives you a canvas where you can post ideas, photos, videos, drawings, etc. So, you can create an online post-it board that you can share your teacher and students. You can also create a group canvas that your students all post their idea on it. This will be a great tool for every subject, but especially the STEM class it is so useful to collect your student's ideas and organize and present to the classroom. It is incredibly easy to use in a variable way.

In my second grade STEM classroom, I would like to use Padlet to engage my students on the project. Here is my science class example;

  • Introduction of today's lesson

I would like to teach the life science about Habitat for second graders by using organized Padlet note. You can create your explanation with pictures that you can find in the Google icon and insert the picture directly in the Padlet.

  • Brain Storming

I would like to use it for students to brainstorm about Science topic (Habitat) as a whole group through creating the group Padlet. Share the group board to the class and let the students share their idea and comment. Padlet brainstorming can show clear and organize the concept of Habitat instead of writing on the chalk board.

  • KWL chart

I also create a KWL chart which is a thinking process as what we know, want to learn, what we learn. So, the students will post their thought and hope about the lesson and share with the teacher.

  • Present your project-based learning

Before starting a project "Making your habitat", I'd like to present to my class what we going to do.

One problem could be that is note positioning when you create the note. It looked like the note that you created is automatically positioned. So you couldn't really place the note where you want.
